To support the Government of Indonesia in improving and optimizing medical waste management
through an electronic system, UNDP Indonesia and the MoH is committed to helping develop an
efficient, integrated, and user-friendly management information system. ME-SMILE (Medical Waste
in SMILE) is developed as a system that aimsfor better and timely monitoring with accurate recording
in the forms of mobile and web applications, as well as digital scale or smart devices that will be
helpful and convenient for healthcare facilities to operate and administer. ME-SMILE has developed
technical guidelines to support the implementation in 33 pilot sites, will upgrade into a Standard
Operational Procedures(SOP). It will accommodate 4 business process of waste handling in the health
care services from segregation, storing, transporting, treatment to disposal.
This workshop is part of series of workshop to finalize the SoP from first drafting, finalization, trial to
third party, trial to health facilities and dissemination.
